Who could resist a bargain like this

Housed in the Bridgepoint Shopping Centre in Mosman, Bridgepoint Books is one of those second hand book stores that is just a joy to browse. With tables out the front and towering shelves inside, you'll want to put aside some decent time to get shopping here.

Shelves are stacked to the ceiling with second hand books

The store is warm and inviting

Bridgepoint Books is located on the top floor at Bridgepoint Shopping Centre, a convenient location that means it's surrounded by grocery stores and cafes. And when I say it's a joy to browse, I don't just mean because of the array of books. The owner is a truly lovely man who not only welcomes browsing, but encourages it. This is someone who you can instantly tell is passionate about books. There's no being told to leave if you're only browsing, and if he needs to duck out to get his lunch, he'll gladly leave you there to browse away.

You can grab some modern fiction as well as vintage classics

Books begin outside with stacked tables

The store is arranged so that it is easy to find what you're looking for. Sections include children's books, Australiana, music biographies, gardening books, science fiction, romance and more. My favourite are the shelves stacked high with classics. You'll find modern orange Penguin classics, but also books that are old enough to classify as vintage. I've found some beautiful books here, the kind that need to be put on display for visitors to see instead of lounging inside a book shelf.

Books books, and more books.

The store is located on the top floor of the Bridgepoint Shopping Centre

The books are relatively well priced, depending on the age and condition of the book. But if it's a bargain you're after, there's the sale table where you can pick up books for between $2.00 and $5.00. And the owners are sure that their stock of thrillers and historical romance books are as big, if not bigger than any other collection you'll find in the state.

Bridgepoint Books is a must visit for book lovers

The owners also say that they will stock anything that they think people will want to read. And it's that that makes this second hand book store different to others. It's run with a real passion, and they want to talk to their customers and share in their passion for books. The books are all cleaned, and sometimes recovered before they are even put up for sale, so you're getting the best quality you can find.

It would be hard not to find a book that you love here

Bridgepoint Books is certainly one of my favourite places to go looking for unique and special second hand books in good condition. I don't think I've managed to go in once without coming out with a purchase yet. And I'm certainly not complaining about that.
