Getting ready for a fun fitness experience - at lululemon athletica Mid City
Recently I had the pleasure of enjoying a Yofit experience for free at lululemon athletica - Mid City Centre store in the city. However, in saying this - this experience did occur by pot luck. These sessions with Yofit are always held at Sydney Park at St Peters every Monday night. The equivalent free experience for 60 minutes was that great, I could not hold back from sharing this experience with you wonderful Sydney Fun subscribers and readers.
You might be curious as to who Yofit really are. For sure, I was at first too. Yofit comprises of husband and wife fitness fanatics by the names of Simone (The Mobile Yogi) and Luke (Fitness Geek). Both lovely people.
A glimpse of Simone - ready to start the yoga practice
The session starts with some fairly gentle, yet high intensity vinyasa flows with Simone. Enjoy a series of mountain poses, downward dogs, planks and other yoga stretches to name. You'll be warm. This occurs for the first half an hour of the experience.
With one of the stretching activities, Simone asked us to share a mat/tag team with a partner with roles changing. If your partner needs to stretch and touch their toes, you're leaning forward and stretching out your back in return. We each had to 'high five' and trust each other at each interval. Quite fun and interesting, and then my partner and I could not stop thanking each other for each others support.

After the yoga session, Luke takes us through some tough yet effective fitness drills - without the need to go for a shower immediately afterwards. There was a rope that divided each side of the room. The team on one side (on this occasion) was team lulu, while the other team was called team lemon. I was on team lemon.
I had to start with doing as many push-ups (on my feet) for one whole minute. Naturally, that minute felt like a long minute. This was a challenge. Then it was my teams turn to do as many burpees as possible in the next minute, while he other team are now doing the push-ups. Funnily enough (and yes, you can call me insane for this) I actually loved and conquered the burpees on this occasion.
A glimpse of my yoga mat, and the mighty rope.
Other fitness drills included doing some sit-ups, while being handed a three-kilo ball, and handing it back along the chain in multiple sequences. Additional core work activities included holding that very same three-kilo ball on our feet, and transferring it to someone else's feet - without dropping the ball. Challenging, yet a great workout indeed. Great encouragement from both Luke and Simone was provided. When Luke was demonstrating these fitness drills, he made them look easy.
Oh, and we also had to do a series of squats - both with and without holding this thick, white rope in the air - as well as fast mountain kicks. Naturally, the water bottles had to come out of hiding.
Let's get the party started
Last but not least, we finished off with a game of tug-o-war, and us 'lemons' won. Simone turned around and said "see we're not lemons after all." So fun. Everyone just laughed at that comment.
Highly recommended experience, and even if you had to pay for it. A great fitness workout. An hour well spent on your body and wellbeing. Thanks Yofit.
