Zumba, a marvellous dance program that evolved in the 1990s has taken the world by storm with approximately 14 million people taking weekly lessons. The program combines dance and aerobic elements with choreography from dance styles such as Hip-Hop, Samba and Salsa.

For those of you who want a fun workout that is easy to follow - I highly recommend Zumba. I was introduced to Dancefitzone Bondi Junction a few months ago, and have become a regular. Dancefitzone, run by Rachael Jones holds weekly Zumba lessons on Monday nights at 7pm.
Rachael, along with the help of Monique and Leora demonstrates dance moves which the class follows. Each lesson runs for one hour, and is only $15 a class. For the Zumba lover/bargain hunter, a card of 10 classes is only $100. The first lesson is only $8 for those courageous enough to try.
Zumba instructors; Leora Harrison, Rachael Jones and Monique Konviser.
Participants can often find themselves invited onstage to dance along with the instructors.
During the routines, exercises such as squats and lunges are performed for the added extra workout mile. Halfway through the class, participants can find themselves in a team as the class splits in two for a fun, energetic dance-off.

Unlike other workouts, Zumba classes are exciting and easy to follow. While some people at the gym get bored easily and unsure of what to do, at Zumba the atmosphere is motivating. Furthermore, with popular songs to dance to, you will find yourself singing along whilst burning the calories.
