David Jones Elizabeth Street Sydney City
The iconic
David Jones retailer (similar to Harrod's in London) has been around in Australia for 175 years, and owns two prime pieces of real estate in the city. This review is based on their Elizabeth Street store.
Find yourself inside Westfield Sydney, and you can enter right into the beauty section. Have brought a nice, gold watch here at Christmas time, and I'm still really happy with my purchase. There is a delightful T2 store, as well as space to admire and buy some beautiful perfume. This floor is also home to scarfs, handbags and other beauty products such as the mesmerising and delicious Glasshouse Fragrances candles. At the Girls Night Out event held every year (on the Tuesday night prior to Mothers Day), enjoy a glass (or two) of bubbles while you browse this section. If you're lucky, you might nab some wonderful beauty advice. I love the Philosophy stand as well. There are times where you can buy a David Jones deluxe sample tote with around $100 plus value of various beauty products for only $20 with any full priced purchase of a beauty product to any value.
Upstairs is more beauty paradise, together with a helpful and pleasant customer service desk. Love the Jo Malone counter, and deluxe handbags such as Coach and Kate Spade can be purchased here. There is a unique Prada store on this floor too.
Head upstairs, and fashion lovers will begin to feel at home. A range of designer brands from the likes of Alannah Hill and Camilla to name occopy the next couple of floors, as well as Ralph Lauren.
Peter Alexander is the favourite sleepwear fashion brand further up, and there are some delightful shoes here too. The Walnut ballet flats represent great value for money, and there is a civilised restroom somewhere along the 4th floor.
The highest possible floor you can shop at here belongs to the kids. Here you will find some stunning kids toys, apart from the ever so popular stood-the-test-of-time LEGO, as well as designer and non-designer kids clothing alike.
The highest level is reserved for weddings and local functions, yet a scrumptious Mothers Day high tea (with bookings) can be enjoyed on the 7th floor, with impeccable views of Hyde Park. Have been fortunate to have been to a couple of work functions here, yet when David Jones is wanting to celebrate big (like their 175th birthday celebrations back in 2013); this space is open to the general public, with the most luxe rest rooms ever encountered.
Love it, and such a civilised and enjoyable shopping experience; and the prices aren't as dear for some of your top luxe finds as you'd think.
