Buckhouse Bouncers - City Community Tennis

Buckhouse Bouncers - City Community Tennis

Posted 2025-07-07 by Richard Milnesfollow
City Community Tennis runs a free mental health program. It’s called Buckhouse Bouncers and it runs every Monday for 1 hour from 11am to 12pm at Prince Alfred Park Tennis Courts in Surry Hills.

The group gets its name from Buckingham House (Buck House for short), which is where the organisation Flourish is based, which helps people with mental conditions. Some people who attend the tennis class are from this organisation but it is also open to others. The class size can vary from about 4 to 10 people and is suitable for all ages and levels of experience.

The coach is Alfred and generally the structure is to have a doubles-style game and switch players when someone misses the ball.

There are toilet facilities in the main building and tennis racquets can be borrowed if you don’t have your own. Just come in suitable shoes and clothing for sport and it's best to bring a bottle of water.

If you are interested in coming along, simply email them at: [email protected] to get involved and on the court.

Another organisation that also offers free tennis sessions is Rally4Ever, which you can read about here .
