Art About Sydney
Sculptures alive in sizzling Sydney
This annual art showcase could be Sydney's response to being up there in the arts scene with Melbourne.
Art & About is on in Sydney once a year, usually commencing towards the end of September, and sees us through almost to the end of October. Every year has a different theme, and the most recent theme (as at the time of writing this) is all about public places and public spaces, and maybe faces too.
Art is open to interpretation, and at previous Art & About events, some Sydney siders have had to endure a bit of aqua therapy. The top art hot spots in the city come Art & About time: Hyde Park, Pitt Street Mall, World Square (Surprisingly) and Martin Place to name.
Sydney Life at Hyde Park
You don't know what will be coming next. Sculptures in abundance, and they're either kid and/or photo attractors. If (as at the time of writing this, again) you have seen different coloured snails about - those larger than life snail surprises, you're not going insane. The free art movement revolution is here.
Chill out at Art About too
Other prominent locations for Art & About include Chippendale and Paddington. A free game of foosball anyone?
It is wise (come August, the winter blues are almost shaken off) to check out the events website, and plan your days and/or nights around this month long action of art and culture alive. The program is comprehensive.
Different facets of Sydney Life. Its art.
Furthermore, the public art photography pieces at Hyde Park (also called Sydney Life) is also quite popular: from Dasher to Tangara. Sydney Life is stunningly interesting. Get some art and culture in, and do it for free, in nearly all cases.
