Arthur Phillip Park Northmead
I have always enjoyed visiting Arthur Phillip Park, a small 3.2 hectare park located in Northmead.
A small playground is located near the main entrance of Arthur Phillip Park
This was a park I often visited as a child. I loved to climb on the playground equipment and use the swings. Since those times the park has changed and significantly improved. It was this park that I visited every evening when I decided to take up running last year. Though I sadly gave up on the running, my fondness for this place did not decrease.
A wide, flat path encircles this park.
This tidy and quaint suburban park provides the perfect setting for a family barbeque or picnic. On my visits here, I have often seen families enjoying the provided picnic shelters, park benches and barbeque facilities while children fly around the wide path encircling the park on bikes, scooters and roller skates.
Several barbeque facilities and picnic shelters are located in Arthur Phillip Park
I have also often seen children learning to ride their bikes here. Younger children love to clamber on the new playground equipment and be pushed by their parents on the swing sets.
The flat, wide path encircling the park is perfect for joggers, walkers and children learning to ride bicycles.

Depending on the time at which you visit, the park may be quiet and peaceful, or rather busy. The sporting fields, small basketball court and cricket pitches are sometimes used for games, and at these times it can be somewhat busy.

Soccer and rugby goal posts are located on opposite sides of the field

Sports activities are popular at this park, and since its renovation a few years ago, there are also various exercise frames located around the walkway. These come with instructions on use, and are perfect for pull-ups, sit-ups and other such exercises.
In the evening, you will often encounter dog owners, joggers and walkers taking laps around the park. The view of the sky at sunset can be spectacular here. The sight of the top of the Coca Cola sign from the nearby factory provides a surprising contrast to the suburban backdrop.
The park is 3.2 hectares in size and situated in the suburb of Northmead
Conveniently located bus stops on Redbank Road make the park easily accessible, even if you do not drive. However, if you do drive to the park, ample parking is usually available on Park Street. If you are hungry after visiting Arthur Phillip Park, there are restaurants including Northmead’s Pancakes of the Rocks, and McDonald's is just across the road.
