Jamberoo Action Park
Lots of watery fun awaits at Jamberoo
While all the attention turns to Sydney’s new water theme park Wet'n'Wild,
Jamberoo is still operating and attracting good crowds.
Located less than 90 minutes drive from Sutherland, Jamberoo is close enough to be considered one of Sydney’s few theme parks.
There are lots of exciting, wet, watery rides and attractions to have a great day out at Jamberoo.
Outback Bay where you can swim in the wave pool
Just inside the park entrance is Outback Bay - a giant wave pool that’s calm for a while, but then becomes a tidal pool with generated waves to dive over or under.
The newest attraction, the Funnel Web.
The main attraction is the new Funnel Web. It’s said to be the longest water ride in the world. Four people in a raft shoot along at 30km per hour in a dark tunnel before spinning into the cavernous funnel. It’s a thrill a second, and it’s no wonder it is the ride with the longest queues.
The menacing Taipan
At the other end of the park is the Taipan, another water ride in a raft. You fly down one of two tunnels in darkness, so you can’t see the twists and dips as they approach. Very exciting.
Much tamer is Rapid River. Jump in your own rubber raft and float along the river. There are spots where the water builds up to rapids to give you the sensation of a running river.
There is also a fantastic body water slide called Splash Out that’s 100 metres long, and Surf Hill with a steep vertical drop where you can race with your friends.
Get drenched at Banjos Billabong
A real favourite is Banjo’s Billabong. It’s a giant play area with a difference. It’s water everywhere; splashing, pouring and spraying water right at you. There is a huge bucket that tips gallons of water every few minutes. Both kids and adults love this area to cool down in.
An old favourite, the bobsled.
A few old favourites remain at Jamberoo, including the chair lift, which takes you up to the bobsled. Another favourite includes the mini golf.
The staff at Jamberoo are always friendly and helpful. Police roam the park regularly, and there are plenty of lifeguards on duty; but as always, young children should never be left unsupervised - especially at a place with so many water attractions.
Jamberoo has picnic areas and a few small shelters, but all up, on a busy day remember the sunscreen as you’ll probably be spending a lot of time in the sun.
One last point: bring the insect repellent.
