Theres definitely some bargain shopping to be had here

If you're looking for a good shopping centre with a difference, look no further than the Mandarin Shopping Centre in Chatswood.

The Mandarin Centre is home to a number of specialty stores. You'll find Trade Secret, where you can get brand name clothes like Calvin Klein, Yves Saint Laurent and Betty Basics for only a fraction of the retail price. Morning Glory sells an assortment of colourful and cute stationery. There's even Miracle, an Asian food plaza for all your grocery needs.

Not only is the shopping good, but the centres beautiful too.

One of my personal favourite stores to shop in at the Mandarin Centre is Daiso. A Japanese store that is famous all over the world (there were lines around the block at the Melbourne opening of the store), where everything in the store is $2.80 each. It doesn't matter whether you're purchasing china dinnerware, a pair of shoes, origami paper or beauty and make-up products; each item will only set you back $2.80. And the assortment of products are huge, featuring exciting Japanese brands and decorative items you're not likely to find anywhere else. You can shop up big without really spending much. Those who are ready to do back-to-school shopping should particularly take advantage of their large stationery selection.

For those who get a bit hungry, there's a cafe called Cupparoma on the ground floor. There you can take advantage of their $5.00 breakfast deal, where you can get a croissant and a coffee for $5.00 before 11:00am. There's also a number of other food establishments. Or if you're in the mood for watching a movie, the Mandarin Centre also has a Hoyts cinema that plays all the current films.

If you prefer a little more active entertainment, there is also a Strike Bowling Bar on the fourth floor. Not only can you partake in bowling, but they also offer Laser Tag, karaoke and regular deals on games and cocktails.

Grocery shopping is a treat at the Asian food plaza

Those who are looking for something to do to celebrate the Chinese New Year should also take a look at the Mandarin Centre. There are a number of activities in February, including a dragon and lion dance, as well as paper lantern making classes. Check out their website for more details.

The Mandarin Centre also has free Wi-Fi for customers. If you make a purchase you can also get free parking. Just remember to ask at the counter when you make your purchase. Otherwise, parking costs $9.00 for three hours, and goes up from there.

Theres more to do than just shopping

For those who are after a shopping experience that is a little different from all the usual Westfields, and won't cost you a fortune; I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Mandarin centre.
