The Storehouse Mosman
The tea sets are what drew me in straight away
Especially when there was such a variety
Every now and then you have one of those moments where you step into a store expecting one thing, and find something completely else. This is the experience I had when I recently went into The Storehouse in Bridgepoint Shopping Centre on Military Road/Brady Street in Mosman. Expecting a cheap, two dollar store type of place, I instead found a haven of beautiful home wares and gift items.
If youre looking for something different for Easter, the range here is really cute.
This cake tin really caught my eye
I was really only there to fill in a bit of time one morning. However, I'd say that I spent at least an hour browsing the shop, taking at least two trips down every aisle. I started by picking one at random, and found myself surrounded by some of the prettiest tea sets I've ever seen. I'm definitely a tea lover, so all these teapots, teacups, and matching saucers were a delight to me. And they were good, solid brands as well, like Maxwell Williams.
I found it very hard to say no to this Alice in Wonderland set
The aisles are packed with fun things to look at
The next few aisles brought to light more cooking equipment and home wares. Cute aprons with funny or retro images on them; cooking moulds for all your needs, and more and more teacups and saucers. The Storehouse has the old fashioned kettles that you put on top of the stove in hot pink, bright blue and green, and brands of home wares from the likes of Anna Gare and MasterChef Australia. I bought myself a couple of wine bottle stoppers that look a little like waiters sitting on a cork, with their legs dangling over the lip of the bottle. Very cute.
Pamper yourself with all sort of goodies
Soaps in every colour of the rainbow
It's not just cooking items though. You'll also find a large number of outdoor items. Laura Ashley gumboots in pretty cherry patterns; outdoor radios for playing at the beach, and gardening tools in fun colours...it's all there.
Gardening items are little more fun to look at than usual
There's plenty of things to pamper yourself with as well. Loads of lotions, many of which are natural products. Hand creams, moisturisers, shower gels and even sleep sprays are there. They also have brightly coloured bars of soap that can be bought singly. There's even a section full of men's toiletries.
Fancy a stove top kettle in fun colours
On one wall there is a collection of kids products that actually made this adult a little envious. A cute Alice in Wonderland themed bowl and cup set sorely tempted me, and I gave in completely when I spotted a plastic cup with illustrated images of ballet positions on it. It was all I could do not to get the matching lunch box, bag and water bottle to go with it. I'm still not convinced that I won't go back and stock up on a few of these for myself.
The Storehouse is so much more than the exterior would lead you to believe
The Storehouse is a completely unassuming place from the outside, especially given its position tucked away on the top floor of the shopping centre. But the lady I bumped into who was also browsing the store had it right: there's almost too much to look at. I highly doubt you'd be able to come out without a purchase of some sort. I know I didn't.
