Westfield Eastgardens

There’s a saying: "If you’ve seen one Westfield you’ve seen them all." This is so very true for .

Try as I might, I didn’t find anything out of the ordinary in the Westfield shopping centre at Eastgardens in Sydney’s south eastern suburbs.

If you know the centre better than I do and are aware of a store that is genuinely unique and might draw people from outside the area, then please make note of it in a comment.

The top of the office tower

Opened in 1987, is the largest shopping centre east of the airport and south of Bondi Junction, and therefore people visit for the usual big department stores as well as the smaller chain stores.

There are about two and a half levels of shopping

The centre is shaped as one long oblong, so you won’t get lost. There are two main levels and one smaller level. There is plenty of parking which is free.

K Mart one of the department stores at Eastgardens.

Target another of the usual department stores at Eastgardens.

has the ubiquitous Target, K Mart, Big W, Woolworths and Coles, which make the centre important enough to draw people from around the area.

Myer moved in after David Jones moved out

David Jones pulled out of Eastgardens in 2007 and Myer took its place.

The smaller stores are also fairly predictable: ABC Shop, Cotton On, Shaver Shop, Bras n Things and the usual jewellers.

There are food courts on each level, but again it’s all fairly predictable. McDonald’s, KFC, Subway, Muffin Break and Michel’s as well as the other usual food offerings you’ll find in Westfield centres, such as sushi shops, Baker’s Delight, San Churro and the ever expanding Breadtop.

There are cafes dotted throughout the centre.

Santa will be back at Christmas time

Pop-up shops take space in the middle of the walkways to add a bit of unpredictability to the centre such as bookstalls, and Santa takes up residence at Christmas time.

There is a Hoyts Cinema complex with eight screens at Eastgardens.

If you live in the area, is a great convenience for all your shopping. If you are from outside the area, you probably won’t find anything new here.

Its not hard to miss Eastgardens when youre travelling in that direction

is about 10kms south of the Sydney CBD and located on Bunnerong Road, Pagewood.
